Sir Richard Branson brought his talent for publicity to bear on climate change yesterday, offering a $25m (￡13m) prize to anyone who invents an economical way of removing carbon from the atmosphere.

The Virgin group chairman said: "We have no super-hero. We have only our own ingenuity to fall back on."

但环保组织指出，一家航空公司及一个提供商务飞行业务的所有者拿出这样一笔奖金，颇有讽刺意味。环保主义者还表示，短期内开发出这种技术的可能性渺茫。

But environmental groups pointed to the irony of such an offer from the owner of an airline and an operation to offer commercial space flights. Environmentalists also said there was little chance of such technology being developed soon.

诺贝尔(Nobel)和平奖得主穆罕默德o尤努斯(Muhammad Yunus)已宣布，他将考虑组建一个新的政党，以回应公众要求他介入孟加拉严重分裂政局的压力。

Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel peace prize winner, has announced he will consider starting a new political party in response to public pressure for him to intervene in Bangladesh´s violently divided political arena.

1月11日，孟加拉总统宣布全国进入紧急状态，并取消了原定于1月份晚些时候举行的国会选举，此后孟加拉一直由军方支持的政府管理。

Bangladesh has been ruled by a military-backed administration since January 11 when the president declared a state of emergency and cancelled parliamentary elections scheduled for later that month.

Government Wom- en´s College professor, said: "I personally think he should not directly enter politics at this moment. Rather he should continue to act as a pressure group for the political parties to clean up their politics, which has been polluted through the use of black money and muscle power over the years."
