Berlinale candidate movie Apple was officially passed by film censors on Feb. 5, prior to its unveiling at the Film Festival in Germany. However, the extramarital affair from the original cut has now been deleted.

Producer Fang Li expressed his disappointment about the result, saying that the cut has made Apple a total different movie. He says his team had never considered the final version of the movie being like that.

Director Li Yu, and the movie's two main actors, Fan Bingbing and Tong Dawei, will go to Berlin on Feb. 14 to take part in the Film award. Another of its main stars, Hong Kong actor Tony Leung, has not decided whether or not to join the event.

As one of two Chinese movies that enter this year's Berlinale race for Golden and Silver Bears, the movie tells a story about a couple who go to find jobs in the city.

The movie will open in Chinese theaters in May.
